Mammut Project

The Mammut project was shaped by the constraints and conditions we faced. With limited time and restrictions regarding the event location, we had to be creative. The “Guardian of Mammut” event was held at the Evin Hotel in Tehran. When my colleague, Roozbeh Fadavi, and I visited the site, the hotel manager informed us that no drilling was allowed in the hall. The existing lighting was outdated and inadequate. The event, commemorating the self-biography of Parviz Fardoos, founder of Mammut Iran, required a unique approach.

Studio Ra designed the event’s environmental graphics, focusing on the book and plants, which Mr. Fardoos was fond of. We decided to turn off all existing lights in the hall and use prefabricated panels with concealed lighting. Small spotlights were used to highlight potted plants, casting shadows onto the ceiling to create a new atmosphere.

To reduce glare from unavoidable spotlights, we crafted shades from cardboard and installed large spotlights in the space between columns and the ceiling. We also used portable cinematic lights for stage illumination. In total, we installed 70 meters of concealed strip lighting, 90 units of 5-watt spotlights, 12 units of 45-watt spotlights, and several recessed lights within two days.
