Backgammon Design

Designing and crafting backgammon boards is a long-standing tradition in Iran. Since nearly all Iranian backgammon boards are made from wood, I decided to explore my preferred material: aluminum.

The process began with designing the playing pieces. Once I reached the desired dimensions, the rest of the board was developed in relation to the proportions of the pieces.

Traditional Eastern backgammon boards typically include raised edges to secure the pieces. Instead, I chose to replace this element with a magnetic mechanism, giving the board a cleaner and more contemporary appearance while maintaining the same functionality of holding the pieces in place.

The project is currently in the prototyping stage, and I hope to bring it to market soon.
